【USR】The Good Cycle of "You and I, Together"—Advocacy, Care, and Field Management for Community Sustainability - USR Benchmark Model Collaborative Learning Exchange

Comprehensive Q&A and Reflection Sharing 2. Event Record: On December 19, 2024, Taipei City University and Chaoyang University of Technology jointly hosted the "USR Benchmark Model Collaborative Learning Exchange" event, aiming to deepen the practice and exchange of University Social Responsibility (USR). The event brought together the USR teams from both universities, fostering the sharing of project concepts, execution experiences, and challenges, and exploring operational models and their outcomes. The goal was to stimulate the potential for co-created knowledge, further promote the innovative development of USR projects, and bring greater positive impact to society. The event began with a deep sharing session by Professor Qian Wei-Jun from Chaoyang University of Technology on the USR Grain Project. He detailed the project’s background, goals, and specific practices in sustainable production, emphasizing how universities can promote sustainable social development in the face of global environmental challenges. His presentation not only gave participants insight into the project’s measures but also sparked deeper reflections on sustainable production. Next, the teams visited the exhibition, where Chaoyang University showcased on-campus creative competitions and USR outcomes. This segment allowed the project teams to observe the tangible outcomes of various projects firsthand, inspiring them to think about how creativity and social responsibility can be combined to develop more socially impactful initiatives. The exhibition attracted lively discussions among faculty and students, who shared their perspectives and experiences. In the afternoon, Associate Professor Chen Shanshan from Chaoyang introduced the university’s overall planning and future outlook on USR. She emphasized that through cross-campus collaboration, resources can be integrated, experiences shared, and the effectiveness and impact of USR projects enhanced. Her speech gave participants a deeper understanding of the role universities play in social responsibility. Following that, Professor Tao Guanquan shared the practical experience of Chaoyang’s USR Fruit Aroma Project, discussing its achievements in promoting local agricultural development and ensuring food safety. He also shared the challenges faced during execution and how they were addressed. His presentation not only highlighted Chaoyang’s efforts in the USR field but also inspired Taipei City University’s team to consider incorporating similar elements into their own projects. The Taipei City University USR team then shared their respective projects. Director Meng Zhe shared the Social Prescription Project, which aims to improve the quality of life for community residents through social services and promote social harmony and development. Following that, Professor Jia Ying introduced the Accompaniment Art Studio Project, focusing on the importance of art education in social responsibility, and how it uses art to inspire youth and cultivate creativity and social care. Lastly, the "You and I Thrive Together" Positive Cycle Project sparked widespread interest. Director Min Da explained the project’s operational model and its results, sharing real-world examples that demonstrated the concrete practice of university social responsibility. At the end of the event, Director Meng Zhe and the Chaoyang team engaged in a comprehensive Q&A session, with lively discussions where participants shared their insights and suggestions. The exchange enhanced the cooperation between the two universities and promoted a deeper understanding and discussion of USR. Participants expressed a strong desire for more such exchanges in the future to jointly advance the development of USR projects and bring greater positive impact to society. The "USR Benchmark Model Collaborative Learning Exchange" event successfully achieved its intended goals, fostering knowledge-sharing and collaboration between the two universities and laying a solid foundation for future USR practices. The hope is that through continued efforts, universities can work hand-in-hand in the path of social responsibility to create a better future.
