The development of citizen participation and international partnership : The case on the MRR of Parantica sita niponica along Asian island-arc

The chestnut tiger (Parantica sita niphonica) is widely distributed in Taiwan and can be seen from flatlands to mountain environments. In May and June, Chestnut tiger outbreak can be seen in Yangmingshan National Park, which is a rare ecological sight. Scholars began to study the chestnut tigers using mark-and-recapture method in 1989. According to records, the chestnut tigers are known to migrate across the sea between Taiwan and Japan. However, apart from the recapture records, there are still many uncertainties, such as the time of occurrence, population changes, and the exact path of movement of the butterflies.
