After the 2016 Straits Cup Basketball Invitational was held in Shanghai in mid-September, it moved to Taipei on the evening of the 11th. Taipei Mayor Ke Wenzhe kicked off with Yao Ming, owner of the CBA Shanghai Sharks and mainland basketball star of the NBA Hall of Fame.
