Shezi and Guandu-The Fallacy of Green Base Development Thinking (Lecture Series)

Ecological Shezi Island is a development case that is often heard recently, but it is actually full of many controversies. Shezi Island is a biological network and habitat in Taipei’s important agricultural ecosystem. However, there are very few investigations on the ecology of Shezi Island. It is impossible to plan a vision that truly conforms to the ecology. The rights and interests of residents and the local ecological environment are the most important things. Although it is difficult to achieve a win-win situation, the government should not plan this case from the perspective of development and profit. The construction of the island has been forbidden for a long time, but the content of the plan ignores the original historical context of Shezi Island. It is often portrayed as the impression that Shezi Island is illegally built. The idea of razing Shezi Island to the ground and starting again is fallacy. In line with social fairness and justice, but also in line with historical context and ecological environment is the most important thing we need to pay attention to in our planning.
