Urban Scenery Policy and Practice(Lecture Series)
The speaker introduced quite successful and inspiring urban and rural shaping cases such as the Yilan Vascular Management Project, Pingtung County Citizen’s Park, and Yunlin Wubei Community. Among them, the Yilan River was the former moat of the old Yilan city, which is a great deal for the elderly. The memory that cannot be erased, but because of the urban development and construction, the buried roads disappeared without a trace. Later, through the implementation of the vascular bundle staging plan, the moat that has entered a century of history can be seen again. It is a sense of memory for the elderly. For young friends, it represents the historical value behind this. In order to recreate the image of the Yilan River and promote the waterfront landscape project, weeping willows were planted on both sides of the moat in Zhongshan Park, like a time tunnel, to create the scene of the old days, create the urban secrets, and drive the city to even more sightseeing in Yilan. For a piece of land to achieve the so-called "successful" design, it not only requires interesting and beautiful planning and entry of elements, but also requires the participation of the local residents with a sense of mission to be able to enjoy it.
