Satellite Telemetry

This course guides students to understand the development principles of satellite imagery, covering electromagnetic wave reception, different spectral reflections on the surface, image classification, and change detection and interpretation of surface changes. At present, there are quite a lot of satellites in operation in space. Through NASA, ESA, and other free and open satellite image download platforms, students are taught how to download images by themselves during the practice class, and they use the image analysis software ENVI to perform numerical calculation, classification, and discussion of satellite images. environmental change, etc. This course echoes SDGs Goal 13 Climate Action. The course will help students understand how to use satellites in space to observe changes in surface climate, sea temperature, vegetation, and environment. Through personal final report implementation, they will understand the issues of environmental change and sustainable development.
