Before listening to the speech, I had always been vague about the boundaries between urban regeneration and urban renewal, but my speech yesterday made me understand the difference between talking about urban regeneration and urban renewal. Urban regeneration is usually more inclined to continue the urban texture, the utilization of old buildings, or more local, regional, and even the concept of participating in socialization, focusing more on software, or the introduction of creative and event industries. As for the part of urban renewal, although there are reconstruction, renovation and maintenance, it is still mainly reconstruction, and more emphasis is placed on the investment and development of the real environment.
