Learning Theories and Motivation

The lecture was hosted by Professor Lin Yinxia from the Department of Learning and Media Design, who invited Professor Miranda Lin from Illinois State University to deliver the lecture. During the lecture, Professor Lin assisted students in reviewing the psychology content they had learned in the Department of Materials, and helped them gain a clearer understanding of the concept of "learning". The professor mentioned the concepts of "growth mindset" and "fixed mindset" to encourage students to reflect on their approach to learning and personal development. Professor Lin explained the confusion surrounding "standardized learning" and provided strategies for breaking through it to achieve effective learning. She also discussed how to increase students' motivation using the 6P framework and other systematic methods. Professor Lin also encouraged everyone to consider how they would teach students using the knowledge they have acquired. How to apply educational theories? The professor emphasized that motivation is necessary for everything, including learning. As a teacher, what kind of motivation is most effective in making students willing to learn? The professor believes that stimulating motivation for learning is an exceedingly important topic. However, there are numerous perspectives and schools of learning theories, and different individuals may benefit from different theories of learning. In the end, the students gained information about exchange students at Illinois State University from Professor Lin's lecture. She encouraged the students to venture beyond the campus and explore the world, immerse themselves in diverse cultures, broaden their perspectives, and bring back their newfound knowledge to Taiwan.
