Urban Agriculture and Food Farming Education
Mr. Kun-Feng Kuo currently serves as the director of the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Ministry of Agriculture. The topics of his speech are mainly divided into four parts: (1) The issue of urbanization: according to WTO data, 50% of the world's population lived in cities in 2008. It is expected that 70% of the world's population will live in cities in 2050. How to diversify urban space and strengthen food and agriculture education has become a global trend. (2) Diversified applications of urban agriculture and food and agriculture education: utilizing smart technology, such as smart irrigation, or informatizing crops, establishing monitoring and cloud back-end control systems, urban agriculture can be conducted in a more circular, friendly and safe manner. Urban agriculture will also pay more attention to land use, experience interaction and food and agriculture education. (3) Establishing an urban-style food advanced farming implementation module: this module can provide people or schools in urban areas with the means to implement food farming education and embody the spirit of food farming education. (4) Food farming education promotion plan: integrating with campuses or developing a search for suitable crops for urban farming tables, remote watering management modules, or LINE modules for pest and disease diagnosis can help people solve various problems in urban farming.
