Taiwanese floral art and practical class

This course aims to explore the development of floral art from the ancient Mesopotamian civilization around 4,500 years ago to the present day. It traces the evolution of floral decoration from the Sumerians' use of fresh flowers and examines the diverse facets of contemporary floral art. The curriculum integrates foundational knowledge of Taiwan's floral culture, recognition of Eastern and Western floral cultural codes, floral aesthetics, artwork interpretation, and the basics of Ikebana art, guiding students to experience the aesthetics of floral art and consider potential careers in the industry.The course content includes a global perspective on the trajectory of floral art and culture, hands-on instruction in floral arrangement basics, the transfer of Asian floral art cultural trajectories, the four major types and six major floral patterns of Taiwanese Chinese flower arrangement art, and the role of flowers in spirituality, art, and commerce. Assessment methods encompass attendance and participation, discussion and interaction during the course, and the completion level of floral art creations.
