Huang Xiuli, director of the Department of Long-term Care at Taipei University of Nursing and Health, was invited to give a special lecture on palliative care for dementia. The major issues included the prevalence of dementia, high risk factors, symptoms at various stages of the disease, behavioral problems and coping methods, as well as the principle of palliative care in the middle and late stages of the disease, which is to minimize the patient's pain and maximize their comfort.
