During the three days from January 24th to 26th, 2024, “Welcome to English World!” was grandly held. Although the cold spell hit and the wind blew freezingly, the enthusiasm of the 30 children still did not diminish. They all entered the classroom with expectant and shy smiles. Under the leading of 8 students from the English Instruction Department of University of Taipei, the children gradually integrated into the class and got to know each other through icebreaking games. The lessons of this three-day camp are various, including careers, emotions, food, countries, clothing, birthdays, shapes, and animals! For each class, we wrote lesson plans on our own, conducted teaching demonstration on stage, and made teaching aids. Because we want to break the frame of “English class,” we use more interactions and more hands-on activities to stimulate children's creativity and provide children with opportunities to express themselves. As for extracurricular activities, we also arrange treasure hunts and sport competition. The treasure hunt was carried out on the playground, using group competitions, combined with the vocabulary words in class, to help them brainstorming. However, unfortunately, due to the rain in the morning, the sports meeting was moved indoors. Despite this, the children were still very energetic and enjoyed themselves. At the final closing ceremony, we invited parents to witness their children's growth and their works over the past three days. Accompanied by the dance song "Try Everything", the children left with a mixture of excitement and reluctance. The camp ended successfully. Thanks to all the relevant teachers in Datong Elementary School for their assistance, and to the children for their amazing feedback. Of course, I also want to thank the partners who have worked together to prepare this camp along the way. This camp must be worthwhile and unforgettable to everyone!
