From January 31st to February 2nd, a three-day English winter camp, titled "Excelling in Talent", was held at Jiuzhuang Elementary School in Taipei City. This camp was led by eight students from the first and second-year students from the Department of English Instruction of University of Taipei, and 30 students participated the courses and activities during the camp. In terms of curriculum, the camp's storyline was centered around Disney characters, and ten thematic courses were designed: "Sea creatures", "School supplies", “Subjects”, “Clothing”, “Music”, “Sports”, “Colors”, “Fruits”, “Furniture”, and “Weather”. Each lesson was meticulously crafted by us with the aim of sparking the children's interest in English learning through engaging teaching activities. As for activities, in addition to a sports day that includes various fun competitions, there are also treasure hunts related to the course content that are conducted in a checkpoint format. The culmination of the three days of learning was showcased at the camp's final presentation day. The children enthusiastically exhibited both static displays of their work and dynamic performances, radiating abundant energy. Additionally, we utilized video retrospectives to allow attending parents and guardians to witness their children's growth. The successful conclusion of this camp could not have been achieved without the assistance of Jiuzhuang Elementary School's principal, directors, and teachers, as well as the support from parents and the children themselves. We also extend our gratitude to everyone who provided assistance along the way. Of course, we must acknowledge the dedication and hard work of our team members during the planning and execution of the camp. We believe that this camp was a special experience for both us and the young participants. This English winter camp not only provided university students with an opportunity to apply their learning in a teaching setting and gain valuable teaching experience but also ignited an interest in English learning among elementary school students, creating a win-win situation for all.
