Aiyun Huang is a multifaceted percussionist, acclaimed as a soloist, chamber musician, researcher, educator, and producer. She achieved top honors, including First Prize and the Audience Award at the Geneva International Music Competition in 2002. Recent highlights include performances with esteemed ensembles like L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and collaborations with composers such as Roland Auzet and Nicole Lizee for premieres of new works. Renowned for her expertise in Percussion Theater, her contributions have been featured in publications like the Cambridge Companion to Percussion and Save Percussion Theater. As Associate Professor and Head of Percussion Program at the University of Toronto, she shapes the next generation of percussionists. Aiyun is dedicated to fostering a vibrant new music community and serves as Artistic Director for soundSCAPE, an annual festival promoting contemporary music and artistic exchange in Italy.
