2024 A case study and exchange on teaching Japanese children's mother tongue and English

This workshop facilitated an exchange of ideas through discussing Japan's educational policies and case studies regarding early childhood English learning. It aimed to enhance the discussion and perspectives of professors and in-service teachers in early childhood education regarding English learning, focusing on the core competencies, learning areas, and teaching cases to cultivate an appropriate understanding of integrating English into kindergarten education. By examining Japan's educational policies for kindergartens and examples of children learning their native language and English, it also aimed to evaluate and suggest Taiwan's perspectives on early childhood English learning. Through this exchange and reflection, the concept of integrating English into early childhood learning was promoted. This event provided participants with insights into Japan's educational policies for early childhood English learning and examined children's English learning from aspects such as core competencies, language acquisition, and cultural backgrounds. It also aimed to inspire participants with different or similar English teaching examples from Taiwan and Japan, encouraging ongoing exchanges, discussion and efforts in early childhood education."
