Climate Change and Adaptation

Climate change is one of the environmental issues of this generation that cannot be ignored, and all countries have invested a great deal of energy in research and adaptation. The government and enterprises in Taiwan are also seeking to strengthen risk management, adaptability, and even national security through various approaches. In particular, the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR) has reconstructed historical climate data since 1979 (Taiwan ReAnalysis Downscaling data, or TReAD), which is highly beneficial to research in the fields of energy, ecology, agriculture, urban planning, and public health. In addition, Climate Change Response Act and Spatial Planning Act have been enacted in order to evaluate the risk of climate change and to identify the areas that need to be strengthened to cope with climate change in the country.
