Adventures in Taiwanese Literature during the Japanese Rule Era

In this lecture, the instructor took us through the process of conceptual change and started us to think about the main theme of this lecture: what is "Taiwan Literature"? How is it different from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature? Through the teacher's questions and the students' answers, we concluded that the meaning of "national" literature includes not only the text itself, but also the language and national experience of the country. From the views of the pioneers of the May Fourth Movement, such as Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao, and Hu Xi, on literature in the early Republic of China, the teacher brought us to the expectations of Chen Xin, Lai He, and Zhang Wejun of the New Literature Movement in Taiwan. Through this clearly organized lecture, the teacher enabled the audience to better understand the background and influence of the New Literature in Taiwan.
