Community Counseling and Counseling: Sometimes mama, sometimes mimi

This course lecture will allow students to gain an in-depth understanding of Teacher Yang Jieyu’s journey in providing psychological counseling and consulting services and helping people cope with various challenges and difficulties in life. Teacher Yang Jieyu shared in the course that she founded the "Care Home" in 1986 and has served more than 700 children of migrant workers in the past 13 years. Everyone calls her Mimi, which means mother. Mimi always has a lot to do. Picking up mothers late at night, taking care of children, sewing charity items, communicating with outside units, and even delivering babies with her bare hands are all her daily routine. People who leave their hometowns and come to Taiwan to work give birth to a new life. However, many times, pregnant migrant mothers are not necessarily blessed, but are regarded as a mistake. When a mother becomes a missing migrant worker for various reasons, the child is also brought into an invisible corner of society. When these invisible children cannot enjoy their rights, Mi Mi immediately reached out to help without fear of the consequences, because she believed that there were no conditions for humanitarian aid. Some people were moved by her spirit, while others criticized her for covering up illegal acts. Through cooperation with the Upward Education Foundation, the project team invited Sister Yang to share her experience andDocumentary. The course arranged this time allows students to understand Teacher Yang Jieyu’s journey of caring for HIV-infected people, non-native pregnant migrant workers and children. Through these label-flipping methods, we can remove demonized stereotypes and let the public understand that they are actually related to They are no different from ordinary people, they just need help so that these ethnic groups can receive more appropriate life care and support and return to society.
