Field Entrepreneurship Training Series Courses-Social Media Management Course-I

On Friday, July 12th, the project team, members, and students held a unique social media course for local residents and seniors at the Minquan Community Development Association in Yonghe District, New Taipei City. The course aimed to help the community residents and seniors understand the everyday use of social media and how to manage their personal accounts, with the hope that they would better grasp modern technology and use social media to stay in touch with family and friends. The course began at 9 a.m., but the project team, members, and students arrived at the classroom at 8 a.m. to set up the venue, adjust the equipment, and prepare for the arrival of the community residents and seniors. By 9 a.m., everyone began arriving, and the team warmly welcomed them, assisted them in finding their seats, and distributed learning materials. After a brief introduction by the project leader, the course officially started. The instructor first introduced the basic concepts of social media and commonly used platforms, such as Facebook, LINE, and Instagram. After that, the students and instructors divided into small groups, guiding the local residents and seniors one-on-one on how to register accounts, set up personal profiles, and post updates. Many of the participants were still unfamiliar with operating smartphones, so the students and instructors patiently demonstrated each step and provided hands-on assistance. During the interactive session, the local residents and seniors asked various questions, such as how to add friends, view messages, and join group chats. The students and instructors provided detailed explanations, demonstrated the processes, and helped solve many practical issues. Before the course concluded, a small test was arranged, allowing the participants to practice the skills they had just learned, helping to reinforce their knowledge. After the event, the local residents and seniors expressed that they had gained a lot from the course and thanked the project team, instructors, and students for their patient guidance. They also expressed a desire for more such learning opportunities in the future. For the project team, this event was not only a teaching experience but also a valuable opportunity for community service. They felt both fulfilled and honored. In conclusion, the social media course ended successfully with laughter and joy. The participants learned new skills, and the project team walked away with a deep sense of accomplishment and emotional reward.
