[Green and Silver Symbiosis, Healthy Life] - Fun Treasure Hunt by Walking
On August 9, 2024, the Minquan Community Development Association and University of Taipei (UT) co-hosted a cross-generational health walk as part of the "You and Me for a Better Future" University Social Responsibility (USR) project. Held at Minzu Park, the event aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of the elderly while offering UT faculty and students an opportunity to engage with the local community, thereby deepening their understanding of social responsibility. The event began with a saxophone performance and a warm-up session led by the community drum team, followed by a leisurely walk through the park. Students assisted the elderly, sharing knowledge about healthy living. The collaboration between UT and the Minquan Community Development Association is part of a broader initiative to improve the quality of life for seniors and promote sustainable community development. Executive Director Chiu Hsiu-Lan expressed her gratitude for UT’s support, emphasizing the event’s success in strengthening community bonds and hoping for future collaborations. UT’s Director Chuang Min-Da reiterated the university’s commitment to social responsibility, highlighting the project’s goal to foster mutual growth and symbiosis between the university and community. The event was seen as a model for future university-community collaborations aimed at creating healthier, more harmonious living environments. Several officials, including representatives from the New Taipei City Social Affairs Bureau and the Youth Bureau, attended the event. They discussed integrating university social responsibility into addressing challenges posed by an aging society and fostering a symbiotic community. The discussion emphasized the need for proactive support to improve the quality of life for seniors, with innovative solutions to combat social isolation and strengthen support networks through university-community partnerships. The officials also stressed the role of youth in promoting intergenerational harmony and fostering a sense of responsibility. The event underscored the potential of university-community collaboration and laid the groundwork for future cooperative efforts, with all parties committed to advancing sustainable community development.
