By participating in activities that combine children's picture book reading with related cooking, we can convey an important concept: reading (specifically, reading picture books in English) can be a very engaging form of immersive language learning for young children when paired with safe, simple, and fun cooking activities. At the same time, this experience allows participating high school students to gain insights into the key considerations involved in curriculum planning for teacher training in early childhood education.
