Music Education in South Korean

Music education in South Korean primary and secondary schools aims to develop students' musical appreciation, performance skills, and cultural awareness. At the primary level, the curriculum emphasizes fundamental music concepts such as rhythm, melody, and basic music theory, integrating singing and simple instrumental performances to enhance students' interest and confidence in music. At the secondary level, the focus shifts to more advanced instrumental playing, choral singing, and music composition. Traditional Korean music (like Gugak) and Western classical music are included to foster an understanding of cultural diversity.
