Although there was no historical records of an eruption in Taiwan, volcanic features such as the fumaroles and hot springs are significant landscape in the Tatun volcano group. Recent researches on the basis of the seismic data show the TVG with a magma reservoirs is still active. Volcanic-hazards studies have since been carry out to build a strong foundation of research on volcanoes which includes geologic and geophysical mapping, petrologic and geochemical characterisation of eruptive products and the dating of samples whose stratigraphy is established. An effective program to mitigate volcanic hazards for the Taipei Metropolitan must be established in the near future, which should be included (1) identification of high-risk volcanoes; (2) hazards assessment and zonation; (3) volcano monitoring and eruption forecasting; and (4) volcanic emergency management.
