Rediscovering the Missing Fossils of the Hayasaka Rhinoceros Specimen

The Hayasaka Rhinoceros specimens were initially excavated in the 1970s in Tainan. However, some parts went missing during preservation and exhibition. This event offered insights into the rediscovery process of these specimens and explained how paleontologists use various techniques and data to track lost specimens. Experts shared experiences from past excavations and discussed the current status of preservation. Students gained an understanding of how paleontological research integrates geology, archaeology, and other disciplines to achieve comprehensive reconstructions of ancient fauna.
