UT_DHW TUESDAY BROWN BAG SAMINAR (II)

This lecture explored the profound impact of trauma experiences on mental health and interpersonal relationships, and introduced "Kaigang Coffee" as a trauma-informed care model to promote mental health education. The speaker emphasized that trauma can trigger physical and emotional stress responses, destabilizing emotions, and if not properly addressed, may lead to mental health issues. To address this, "Kaigang Coffee" offers one-on-one informed counseling and has designed the "Heart Muscle Development" workshop to help participants learn emotional regulation and social skills, forming a preventive mental health care system. The initiative combines a social enterprise model, targeting coffee enthusiasts, mental health advocates, and individuals in need of high care, and collaborates with schools to strengthen the social psychological safety net. This project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly promoting good health and well-being and fostering inclusive communities, emphasizing the principle of "prevention is better than cure." The lecture allowed students to recognize the core role of mental health education in social welfare. Through learning about trauma-informed care, students gained practical intervention skills, laying the foundation for their future work while also contributing to social welfare and supporting the development of a healthy and inclusive society.
