Deputy Director Chen introduced us to the business content of the Health Bureau. First, several infectious diseases that have caused epidemics in Taiwan are listed, such as smallpox, SARS, COVID-19, etc. In the section on infectious diseases, the recent global pandemic of COVID-19 is also mentioned. In addition, it was mentioned in particular that even if this kind of infectious disease that has had a serious impact on a large scale around the world has appeared repeatedly in human history, in the long run, after the virus has been prevalent for a period of time, the fatality rate will begin to decrease. This is not only due to medical prevention and treatment methods, but also to the evolutionary characteristics of the virus itself, which has brought us knowledge areas that we usually have less contact with.
