“If you were going to die tomorrow, what is the one thing you're not doing right now that you'd regret? Then make that your goal for the present.” Most of the students were very touched by the lecturer's words. During the speech, the lecturer kept encouraging everyone to do what they really wanted to do instead of being restricted by the name of the department, so that the students could keep reflecting on what their goals were and whether they were bound by the principle of “applying what they have learned”. The Dean made the students realize that Chinese language does not limit your future path, it can help you think and allow you to have more possibilities. The lectures of the seniors let the students know that studying Chinese can be very fulfilling, and that the thinking skills cultivated in the Chinese language department can help us to make more detailed plans for the future.
