"Sociology" is a required course for first-year students in the Department of Metropolitan Industry Management and Marketing. The course aims to teach students how to collect and analyze factors that influence social change. The instructor integrates this course into the university's social responsibility project, where, at the beginning of the semester, students are taught to use government open resources such as the Ministry of the Interior's Socioeconomic Data Service Platform and the National Land Planning Geographic Information Map to analyze the environment and human activities in the Tianmu area, as well as their relationship with carbon emissions. This part of the course is divided into three sections: 1.Platform Introduction and Operation (September 10, 2024, 3:10 PM - 5:00 PM): Introduction to the functions of the Socioeconomic Data Service Platform How to query and download data Establishing a basic data framework for the Tianmu area 2.Data Analysis Practice (September 24, 2024, 3:10 PM - 5:00 PM): Querying population density data for the Tianmu area Analyzing the distribution and usage types of buildings Combining student-surveyed landmark data (such as Dayeh Takashimaya, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, etc.) Discussing the correlation between population activities and building electricity usage 3.Sustainable Development Discussion (October 1, 2024, 3:10 PM - 5:00 PM): Analyzing the energy consumption characteristics of high-density areas Exploring the relationship between commercial activities and carbon emissions Proposing targeted energy-saving suggestions Features and Innovations: 1.Empirical analysis using official data 2.Integration of student-conducted local survey data 3.Development of data-driven sustainable strategies Learning Objectives: 1.Become proficient in using the Socioeconomic Data Service Platform 2.Understand the relationship between population density and carbon emissions 3.Cultivate a sustainable development mindset
