The second week of the Junior-Level Net Zero Carbon Planning Manager Certification Coaching Program once again featured Dr. Wen-Hui Huang, Carbon Management Technology Director at the Industrial Technology Research Institute, as the instructor. This session focused on the second certification evaluation topic: Overview of Net Zero Carbon Inventory Standards and Procedures. Dr. Huang began by briefly introducing the major milestones of international greenhouse gas regulation conventions and the history of global climate actions from 1992 to the present. He then discussed the conclusions and highlights of the 2023 COP28 United Nations Climate Change Conference, including the first Global Stocktake Report and the UAE Consensus. The session continued with a detailed introduction to the types and sources of greenhouse gas emissions, along with an explanation of related penalties. Dr. Huang also outlined Taiwan’s Sustainability Standards Blueprint, developed by the Financial Supervisory Commission to align with IFRS standards. Throughout the course, Dr. Huang introduced numerous technical terms and concepts, including the six categories of greenhouse gas inventory. He provided specific examples for each category and taught participants how to calculate greenhouse gas emissions and quantify results. The session concluded with guidance on the necessary contents of an inventory report, including the structure and format of the report's table of contents.
