【USR Hub】"Taipei City University 1+101" Taipei Net-Zero Collaboration Platform Project - 1130713 Junior-Level Net Zero Carbon Planning Manager Certification Coaching Program
In the second week of the Net-Zero Carbon Planning Manager (Junior) Certification Guidance Course, we were once again honored to have Dr. Huang Wen-hui, Director of Carbon Management Technology at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), to lead the lesson. The focus of this session was on Certification Evaluation Topic 2 - Net-Zero Carbon Inventory Standards and Procedures Overview. Dr. Huang started by briefly introducing the key milestones of international greenhouse gas control conventions and the international climate action journey from 1992 to the present. He then shared the conclusions and key points from the 2023 COP28 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which included the first-ever global inventory report and the UAE Consensus. Next, Dr. Huang explained the different types of greenhouse gases and their sources of emissions, and the associated penalties were also detailed in the course. He also discussed how Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) has developed a sustainable development guideline blueprint to align with the IFRS. Additionally, Dr. Huang introduced many technical terms and jargon related to greenhouse gas inventory, explaining the six types of inventory categories in detail, offering examples for each. He also taught students how to calculate and quantify greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, Dr. Huang explained what should be included in a carbon inventory report and the structure of the report as the conclusion to this week's session.
