This session invited Dr. Hsieh Chia-Hung, Assistant Professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, to conduct an online intensive pre-exam session for the Net Zero Carbon Planning Manager (Beginner) Certification. Dr. Hsieh helped the participants quickly review the key points of the course and exam content. Dr. Hsieh began by briefly introducing his background and presented a table that clearly outlined the scope and weight of the exam content. He then proceeded to summarize the key points from the previous sessions. The first week of the intensive course focused on Subject 1—Fundamentals of Net Zero Carbon Planning Management. Dr. Hsieh started by discussing current domestic and international sustainability trends and frameworks, including the types of major climate change impacts, global temperature trend maps, and the objectives and frameworks of several climate agreements. He also highlighted the commonly used standards in the field today. He then described the progress and goals of energy transition, mentioning a new international trade regulation—the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism—and explained how to calculate carbon tariffs in different scenarios. Lastly, Dr. Hsieh introduced the regulations and practices for carbon neutrality, comparing the differences between two commonly applied standards. He concluded the session by reviewing exam questions with the participants.
