【USR Hub】The “Tianmu Studies” Based on Culture, Life, and Environment: Imagining Low-Carbon Resilient Communities and Local Livable Systems - Community Planning and Urban Renewal
The speaker discussed the "soft power" of urban renewal, which includes community culture, resident participation and cooperation, as well as respect for the local environment and history. They emphasized the importance of considering these soft factors in urban renewal projects to ensure the success and sustainability of the plans. The speaker pointed out the significance of exploring local knowledge. By understanding local history, culture, and social structure, it is possible to develop urban renewal plans that better meet the needs and characteristics of the area, thereby promoting community development and improvement. They also highlighted the role of regulations and action strategies in the urban renewal process. Understanding relevant laws and regulations is crucial for creating legal and compliant urban renewal plans, while effective action strategies can encourage community participation and consensus, facilitating the smooth implementation of the renewal projects. This lecture provided participants with a comprehensive perspective, helping them better understand the relationship between community planning and urban renewal. It also emphasized the importance of local knowledge exploration, legal regulations, and action strategies in urban renewal.
