【USR Hub】The “Tianmu Studies” Based on Culture, Life, and Environment: Imagining Low-Carbon Resilient Communities and Local Livable Systems - Local Knowledge Exploration (3): Tracing the Tienmu Waterway, Net Zero and Energy, and Gender Spaces
We are honored to have invited Project Managers Wu Su-Ting and Lin Yu-Ting from the Taiwan Sustainable Design Society as speakers. In this lecture, the two discussed three important topics: the history of the Tienmu Old Trail and waterway rituals, the decentralized energy planning concept for net-zero transformation, and gender and spatial issues. Firstly, the speakers led the audience through a review of the history of the Tienmu Old Trail and the cultural significance of waterway rituals. Through detailed descriptions and rich stories, they highlighted the deep historical and cultural meaning behind the trail, as well as the vital role of waterway rituals in the local community, helping participants better appreciate the value and importance of these cultural assets. Next, the speakers introduced the concept of net-zero transformation and focused on the importance of decentralized energy planning. They explained the concept and application of decentralized energy, and how this strategy can help achieve net-zero goals. This sparked reflection among the participants on renewable energy and energy transformation, encouraging them to envision and explore ways to build a sustainable future. Finally, the speakers addressed gender and spatial issues, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and inclusivity in spatial design. They raised relevant questions and challenges, prompting the audience to consider how improvements in spatial design and policies could promote gender equality and social justice.
