【USR Hub】The “Tianmu Studies” Based on Culture, Life, and Environment: Imagining Low-Carbon Resilient Communities and Local Livable Systems - Local Knowledge Exploration (4): Huangxi Ecology and Design Method Sharing

We are honored to have invited Mr. Xu Yuren, the head of the Huangxi Ecological Watershed, and Mr. Sun Yincheng, the project manager of the Caoshan Design Studio, to speak at this event. The session began with Mr. Sun Yincheng sharing the design methods he learned during his studies in the Department of Architecture. Using successful case studies and practical experiences, he offered advice and ideas to help first-year students better tackle local design challenges and issues. Following that, Mr. Xu Yuren gave an in-depth introduction to the history and landscape of the Tianmu area, showcasing the rich historical background and unique geographical features of the region. Through vivid descriptions and visual presentations, he piqued the participants' interest and curiosity about the area. Mr. Xu then elaborated on the environment and ecology of the Huangxi Watershed, focusing on the region's natural resources and ecosystems. He highlighted the geographic environment, biodiversity, and ecological systems of the watershed, and discussed their impact on local communities and ecological balance. This lecture explored design methods and strategies aimed at promoting the sustainable development and protection of the region. Through the sharing of professional knowledge and practical experience, it inspired participants to think critically and explore the relationships between local culture, ecological environment, and design methods.
