In this lecture, the speaker first introduces community participation and shares their experiences in real projects, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in urban planning and design. Through specific stories and case studies, the speaker demonstrates the application and process of community participation in their own experience, highlighting issues and challenges to be aware of during the community engagement process. Using practical examples, the speaker shows how to effectively promote community members' participation and consensus, and how to incorporate their voices and needs into the design process to achieve more inclusive and sustainable urban development. Next, the speaker elaborates on the design experiences and methods learned during their academic journey, sharing personal setbacks and insights in the field of design, and stressing the importance of self-directed learning. The speaker encourages participants to use design thinking and methods to explore new approaches to problem-solving, providing practical strategies and techniques to help first-year students better navigate challenges in real life. The lecture encourages the application of these methods to explore local culture, ecological environments, and design processes, while motivating participants to actively engage in urban construction and design to collectively create a better city and community.
