Local History and the Design and Practice of Board Games With the rise of local cultural preservation and promotion, board games, as a medium combining both entertainment and education, have gradually become an important tool for transmitting local history and culture. This lecture, titled "Local History and the Design and Practice of Board Games," explores how to incorporate local characteristics, historical stories, and cultural elements into the design process of board games, and shares design challenges and solutions through practical case studies. The lecture will be divided into three main sections: 1. The Core Value of Local History: A deep dive into the meaning and importance of local history, discussing how to select representative historical events, figures, or cultural symbols as the foundation for board game design, while avoiding oversimplified or biased interpretations. 2. Creative Transformation in Board Game Design: An introduction to the basic principles of board game design, including game mechanics, story frameworks, and visual design. It will also explore how to incorporate local features in the design process, ensuring the game is not only fun but also sparks players' interest and resonance with local culture. 3. Practical Experience and Case Sharing: Through successful board game examples (such as strategy games or educational board games based on local history), the lecture will demonstrate how to balance historical knowledge with entertainment elements, offering design advice for different age groups and target audiences. Additionally, the lecture will discuss the challenges in the process of local history board games from design to commercialization, such as research verification, copyright issues, and collaboration models with local communities. Through this lecture, participants will not only learn how to create board games with educational value and cultural depth but also explore the diverse potential of board games as tools for local culture promotion.
