【USR】The Good Cycle of "You and I, Together"—Advocacy, Care, and Field Management for Community Sustainability - Field-based Entrepreneurship Empowerment Series Courses - Social Media Management Course - (1)

On Friday, July 12, 2024, Director Min-Da, Teacher Yi-Heng, Teacher Xin-Hui, along with the project team members and students, hosted a unique social media course for the local residents and senior community members at the Mingchun Community Development Association in Yonghe District, New Taipei City. The purpose of the course was to introduce social media applications and personal management to the community members and seniors, helping them better understand modern technology and use social media to stay connected with their family and friends. The course began at 9:00 AM, but the team arrived at the classroom at 8:00 AM to set up the venue and test the equipment in preparation for the arrival of the local residents and seniors. By 9:00 AM, everyone began to arrive, and the teachers and students warmly greeted them, assisting them in finding seats and distributing learning materials. After a brief introduction by Director Min-Da, the course officially started. Teacher Yi-Heng first introduced the basic concepts of social media and commonly used platforms such as Facebook, LINE, and Instagram. Then, the teachers and students divided into small groups and provided one-on-one guidance to the local residents and seniors on how to register accounts, set up personal profiles, and post updates. Many of the community members and seniors were still unfamiliar with smartphone operations, so the teachers patiently demonstrated step-by-step, guiding them through each task. During the interactive session, the local residents and seniors raised various questions, such as how to add friends, how to check messages, and how to participate in group chats. The teachers provided detailed answers and demonstrated practical operations, helping them resolve many practical issues. Before the course ended, a short quiz was arranged for the participants to practice the skills they had just learned, reinforcing their learning. After the activity concluded, the local residents and seniors expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the patience and guidance of the project team and the teachers and students. They also expressed hope for more such learning opportunities in the future. For the project team, this activity was not only a teaching process but also a valuable experience in social service, leaving them with a sense of satisfaction and honor. Overall, the social media course concluded successfully with laughter and joy, as the local residents and seniors learned new skills, and the project team gained a deep sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
