Spreading the Human-Centered Streets Concept! UT Joins 21 Schools and the National Land Agency to Build a Pedestrian-Friendly Environment
Since September 27, 2024, Taipei City University has been a pioneer member of the "Human-Centered Streets Campus Promotion Alliance" initiated by the National Land Management Agency. The university has actively promoted the concept of human-centered streets, encouraging numerous universities to join the initiative. Under the leadership of President Chiu Ying-Hao, the alliance expanded to six universities by November 26, 2024, and further grew to include 14 additional schools on January 7, 2025. These new members include Central Police University, Taipei National University of the Arts, Hungkuang University, National Pingtung University, National Taipei University of Business, National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences, Tatung University, Fu Jen Catholic University, National Dong Hwa University, National Taiwan Sport University, Chung Yuan Christian University, I-Shou University, Chaoyang University of Technology, and Chinese Culture University, as well as the Technical University of Berlin in Germany. So far, the alliance comprises 22 participating institutions, showcasing the commitment of higher education institutions to the development of human-centered streets. On the same day, National Land Management Agency invited alliance members to participate in a forum to discuss strategies for promoting human-centered streets, share practical experiences, and explore future plans.
