Whenever the winter break arrives, it presents the perfect opportunity for our English Teaching Department to engage in internships and hands-on teaching experiences. This winter, we once again collaborated with Jiuzhuang Elementary School in Taipei to host a three-day "Excellence in Life English Winter Camp." The camp was led by eight first- and second-year students from the English Teaching Department of Taipei City University, along with 30 enthusiastic young participants from Jiuzhuang Elementary School. For the curriculum, we selected Disney character stories as the central theme and designed eight courses closely related to daily life. These covered topics such as clothing, colors, fruits, sports, household chores, animals, transportation, emotions, and weather. Each lesson was personally written by our students, aiming to create an interactive teaching experience that allows children to learn English in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. At the end of each day, we incorporated engaging checkpoint games and thrilling sports competitions, giving the children a chance to release their energy, stimulate their minds, and enhance their interest in learning while fostering teamwork. The highlight of the camp was the final-day showcase, where the children not only performed a dance they had learned over the three days but also presented various works created during class. Through a carefully crafted video recap, parents and teachers were able to witness the children’s growth and progress throughout the camp—making it not only a showcase of their learning but also a beautiful and memorable experience. The success of this camp would not have been possible without the full support of the principal, director, and teachers of Jiuzhuang Elementary School. Their guidance helped us transform from an uncoordinated group into a more cohesive teaching team. We are also grateful to the parents for entrusting their children to us. Most importantly, we sincerely thank the 30 wonderful children who filled our days with endless laughter and surprises. Additionally, we deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of every team member. For us university students, this was an invaluable internship experience; for the children, it was an unforgettable journey filled with the joy of learning. Their enthusiasm, energy, and innocence brought immense happiness and positivity to the camp, making our teaching experience even more fulfilling and meaningful. The "Excellence in Life English Winter Camp" successfully concluded at Jiuzhuang Elementary School from January 22 to January 24, 2025.
