UT Golf Team Receives Strong Support from Jiamei Industries

On December 6, our school officially announced the launch of a three-year sponsorship agreement with Jiamei Industries Co., Ltd. Under this partnership, Jiamei Industries will provide an annual sponsorship of NT$5 million over the next three years to support the development of our golf team. This collaboration is not only a major event for the golf community in Taiwan, but also a strong boost for our team, enabling athletes to focus on training and competition without financial concerns as they strive for new heights. President Chiu Ying-Hao expressed his gratitude for Jiamei Industries’ support, emphasizing, “Golf is a key sport that our university is committed to developing. It is not only highly competitive but also suitable for public participation. Golf places less demand on physical strength and instead emphasizes technique, endurance, and consistency—qualities well-suited to Asians. It represents the future direction of sports development in Taiwan.” Established in 1998, our university’s golf team has nurtured nearly 150 outstanding athletes and coaches. Notable alumni include Hong Ching-Hui, Chan Shih-Chang, Hung Chien-Yao, Lin Yung-Long, Tseng Hsiu-Feng, Hsu Wei-Ling, Lee Min, Peng Chieh, Cheng Ssu-Chia, Lo Cheng-Che, Yeh Hsin-Ning, Kuo Ai-Chen, Lin Tzu-Chi, Chang Hsuan-Ping, Yang Chih-Hua, Shih Cheng-Hsuan, Chiang Chen-Yu, Wu Yen-Lei, Hsu Chun-Yu, Hsu Li-Sheng, Hsu Li-Peng, Lin Chin-Chia, Wei Chih-Jung, Wang Tzu-Ming, Yu Chen-Ting, and Chen Yi-Yu. These athletes have delivered outstanding results in international competitions, securing multiple titles in the PGA and Asian Tours, as well as winning individual and team gold medals at the Asian Games and the Universiade. Professor Wang Hung-Tsung, Director of the Graduate Institute of Sports Training, remarked, “The sponsorship from Jiamei Industries carries great significance for our golf team. It will not only enhance training facilities but also boost the team’s international competitiveness. We are confident that, with this support, our team will continue to bring honor to Taiwan on the global stage.” Three LPGA alumni—Lee Min, Cheng Ssu-Chia, and Peng Chieh—who recently concluded their 2024 PGA seasons, also attended the press conference to share their experiences. Lee Min stated, “I’m delighted to see corporate support for the Taipei City University Golf Team. This funding will help upgrade our training equipment and allow players to access world-class training environments right here at home.” The partnership between our university’s golf team and Jiamei Industries marks a new chapter in Taiwan’s golf development. With joint efforts from both sides, we are confident that more elite athletes will be nurtured, helping Taiwan shine even brighter on the international golf stage.
