University of Taipei Partners with TICA

On April 11, 2025, the University of Taipei officially signed a cooperation agreement with Taiwan Innovation Centre Ageing (TICA). The two parties will collaborate to promote the innovative development of age-friendly and sustainable health solutions, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative technology to create a new model of longevity for all to share. This partnership aligns with the university’s theme project for the Ministry of Education’s "2025-2027 University Social Responsibility (USR) Practice Program"—"Integrating Healthcare and Higher Education: Constructing Social Prescriptions and Connecting Innovative R&D Bases for Workers." This project focuses on the innovative models of community health and social care for an aging society, emphasizing cross-disciplinary collaboration and sustainable impact, which resonates deeply with TICA’s core values. TICA, established in September 2024, is chaired by Mr. Stan Shih, the founder of Acer Group. It has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with the National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA) in the UK and is also supporting "Voice Taiwan," the local partner of NICA. TICA aims to connect international innovation in longevity research with local implementation resources. President Chiu Ying-Hao of the University of Taipei expressed the university’s excitement to deepen cooperation with NICA and TICA. The university aims to explore more specific collaboration opportunities in areas such as housing safety for the elderly, nutritional health, senior-friendly tourism, and third-age education, jointly creating a forward-looking and inclusive innovative society for longevity. Through this collaboration, the University of Taipei will work with TICA to promote the application of AI-generated trend advisory technology. The university will integrate the research expertise of its faculty and provide students with practical opportunities, fostering co-creation among academia, communities, and industries. The goal is to create an innovative model for aging societies, "people-centered with technology as an enabler." The University of Taipei will continue to serve as a bridge linking the city, society, and future development. Through the USR practice program and industry partnerships, the university aims to build a smart, healthy, and dignified society for longevity.
