2025 Good World Citizen Forum

On April 11, 2025, the University of Taipei, in collaboration with the ESG World Citizen Digital Governance Foundation, co-hosted the "2025 Good World Citizen Forum: Making Goodness the Force for Change in the World" at the Lin Yang Hall, 3rd Floor, Library, Bo'ai Campus. The event was co-organized by FarEasTone Telecommunications and supported by the Renlin Education Foundation and the Incubation Social Welfare Foundation, bringing together cross-domain leaders from industry, government, academia, and civil society to inject momentum into promoting global citizenship and sustainable social development. The forum featured a keynote speech by Dr. Stan Shih, Founder and Honorary Chairman of Acer Group, who shared his vision for "The Future of Taiwan as Altruistic World Citizens," inspiring attendees to reflect on the deep value of corporate responsibility and social care. Other important guests included Deputy Director-General Deng Jinquan of the Taipei City Department of Education, Lin Huishan, Chief Communications and Corporate Sustainability Officer at FarEasTone, and Wang Jincai, Chairman of the Renlin Education Foundation, who participated in discussions on how to advance global citizenship education, corporate engagement, and social action, with the aim of moving Taiwan toward a benevolent society. University of Taipei President, Dr. Chiu Ying-Hao, in his opening remarks, emphasized that although the university is not large, it has always upheld a clear educational belief, aiming to cultivate world citizens with humanistic care and international perspectives. Dr. Chiu stated, "Education shapes humanity, and the role of the university is crucial. We must ensure that students understand what it means to be a world citizen and how to become well-rounded individuals from university, or even earlier." He also reviewed the school’s history since its founding in 1895, highlighting that the university has long been a leader in Taiwan’s teacher training and sports education, producing numerous foundational educators and Olympic medalists. Dr. Chiu further noted that the university is currently working with the foundation to promote world citizenship courses and will call on more universities to join in, ensuring that "goodness" is not confined to May but is embodied in everyday actions, ultimately making Taiwan a friend to all nations and truly embodying the spirit of global citizenship. Through this forum, the goal is to deepen the consensus and practical actions of various sectors regarding "The Power of Goodness," shaping Taiwan into a model of a benevolent society with global citizenship and sustainable values, thus paving the way for a better and more harmonious future for generations to come.
