University of Taipei Partners with the International Sustainable Education Association

In response to the global trend of sustainable development and to deepen the promotion and implementation of sustainable education in Taiwan, Taipei City University (TCU) signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Sustainable Education Association (ISEA) on April 21, 2025, officially launching the "Sustainable School Partnership" initiative. This collaboration will strengthen the integration of academics and practical applications, promoting educational innovation, curriculum development, educational exchange, and cross-industry cooperation, further cultivating future talents with a global perspective and sustainable thinking. The event was held at TCU's Boai Campus and was attended by distinguished guests, including Vice Minister of Education Yeh Ping-cheng, Taipei City Government Education Bureau Commissioner Chung Te-hsin, ISEA President Su Yang-zhi, Executive Director of 5% Design Action social design platform Yang Zhen-fu, and others, who witnessed the opening of this historical partnership. In his speech, TCU President Chiu Ying-Hao said, "It is an honor for TCU to partner with stakeholders who are committed to sustainability. We recognize the significant responsibility this partnership entails and hope to become a key driver in advancing sustainable development." He further mentioned that TCU has established a sustainability office and is actively integrating the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the university's teaching, research, and community participation efforts, with a strong commitment to fully implementing sustainable concepts. The "Sustainable School Partnership" initiative will focus on enhancing the digital and net-zero governance capabilities of primary and secondary school principals, designing interdisciplinary training courses, industry-academia matchmaking actions, and educational action platforms to create a systematic support mechanism for educational innovation. The curriculum will revolve around three main themes: "Seeing the Impact," "Creating the Impact," and "Amplifying the Impact," aiming to enhance school leaders' governance knowledge in the context of technology and sustainability transformation, helping them transition from administrative roles to influential learning leaders. President Chiu emphasized that TCU, adhering to the spirit of "Education Never Falters, Sustainability Never Falters," will continue to work closely with schools at all levels and various sectors of society to create a sustainable future filled with hope and responsibility for future generations. The launch of this initiative marks a new chapter in Taiwan's sustainable education and will play a pivotal role in promoting sustainable development in society.
