【USR】Integration and Diffusion of Medical-Elderly Care and Higher Education Perspectives: Constructing a Social Prescription and Linking Worker Innovation and Development Hub - Art Prescription
Hong Kong artist Pak Sheung Chuen is renowned for his conceptual art and paintings, known for drawing inspiration from everyday life to evoke reflection on contemporary social issues. He represented Hong Kong at the 2009 Venice Biennale and was awarded the Best Artist Award by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2012. Pak is also deeply engaged in social issues, transforming current events into art through curatorial work and creations such as the “Nightmare Wallpaper” series, which draws public attention to pressing concerns. In recent years, he co-founded HASS Lab with Chak Chak Chan, promoting the integration of art into communities, social welfare, and education. Their work embodies the concept of "social prescribing", using art to enhance both individual and community well-being—an approach that could serve as an inspiring model for Taipei City University. Educators can engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, co-designing art-based projects with healthcare or social work professionals. Students can immerse themselves in community practices, fostering social responsibility. Meanwhile, the university can establish long-term partnerships to regularly host art activities. In this way, art becomes a powerful force for promoting social inclusion and mental and physical well-being.
