【USR】Integration and Diffusion of Medical-Elderly Care and Higher Education Perspectives: Constructing a Social Prescription and Linking Worker Innovation and Development Hub - The Creativity of Misfits and Social Prescriptions: A Creative Dialogue between USR and SEL
Senior Marketing Manager Wei Chia-Yu from the Lung Chung Rising Foundation’s “Quirky Project” opened the lecture with the documentary I Will Always Always Love You. The film tells the story of Wen Kuo-Shih, the child of a parent with schizophrenia, who overcame the shadows of his family background to dedicate himself to teaching in rural areas and supporting students from dysfunctional families. The Lung Chung Rising Foundation is committed to raising awareness of social issues. In collaboration with Golden Horse-winning director Yang Li-Chou, the foundation has produced a series of documentaries under the “Quirky Film Festival,” covering a wide range of topics including gender equality, medical science, migrant worker rights, and environmental conservation. Wei Chia-Yu shared how the foundation has expanded the Quirky Film Festival into diverse initiatives—such as inviting teachers to create lesson plans based on the documentaries to spark students’ reflections on social issues in the classroom. Professors and students attending the lecture exchanged ideas on how this model could be introduced at the University of Taipei to enhance students’ civic engagement. Although the University of Taipei has a traditional background in teacher education, recent social changes have led more students to pursue diverse career paths. The foundation and professors encouraged students to explore different avenues and engage in social good during their university years, thereby broadening their horizons.
