Mass Graves - Zhao Ruiyu's solo exhibition

The "Mass Grave" series, centered on the author's own experiences growing up, explores the transformation of individuals within social and cultural norms. Adolescence is a crucial period for reshaping values, often accompanied by contradictions and struggles. As we grow up, we are forced to suppress our instincts and learn to conform to social expectations, but in the process, we gradually lose parts of ourselves, forming a paradoxical yet irreversible psychological state. The works reveal the inner struggle within society's domestication. The bloody and torn imagery is not simply violent, but symbolizes the process of de-barbarization and self-reconstruction. This work is not only an emotional outlet, but also a profound inquiry into growth and self-identity, attempting to evoke resonance in the viewer with the vulnerability and struggle inherent in growth. Sincerely,
