It's so easy to repurpose old clothes – T-shirts into bags + a scrap-eating denim owl
To promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Office of Sustainable Development is hosting the "SDGs Lecture Series." This event features Ms. Lin Huiwen of Yima IMMA Village, who will lead a discussion on the environmental impacts of fast fashion and explore the simplest and most environmentally friendly ways to give old clothes a new lease of life. The course will utilize a "lazy-friendly" prototyping method to reduce water, electricity, and energy consumption, transforming unused clothing into fashionable and practical items, extending their lifecycle. The finished items can be used for personal use or even become specialty merchandise, reducing the impact on the planet. The course is designed to be accessible, allowing students with no prior sewing or crafting experience to easily create their own unique creations. The creative process not only allows students to enjoy the joy of crafting but also allows them to incorporate sustainability and environmental protection concepts into their daily lives. Through creative creativity, students can create unique pieces and experience how sustainability can be fun and fashionable. This course aligns with SDG12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Students will understand how to transform waste into valuable products and maximize resource utilization.
