Yu Pen-kuan's images, whether single or composite, often employ complex compositions, significant dimensions, and the concept of audience participation, making the viewing experience resemble a virtual photographic act. In his early works, he emphasized "conceptual art" style photography, while more recently he has leaned towards thinking about contemporary Taiwanese visual culture, using everyday landscapes and their cultural products as content, and has continued to publish the "Reading Taiwan" series of images.
