Concept-based curriculum and instruction: Inquiry, Understand, and Transfer
This lecture featured Dr. Liu Hengchang, who focused on the teaching philosophy and practice of "concept-based learning." Although the topic is abstract, Dr. Liu guided participants to understand the core spirit and theoretical foundation of concept-based courses in a clear and accessible way. In addition to explaining inductive teaching strategies and examples, the lecture used picture explanations and interactive questioning activities to allow participants to personally experience the process of summarizing concepts and constructing general rules from concrete examples, thereby grasping the context and internal logic of course design. Finally, Dr. Liu emphasized "less teaching, more learning" as the core concept, stressing that teachers should cultivate students' critical thinking, creativity, and inquiry spirit through concept-based curriculum design, and promote their ability to transfer and apply their knowledge to diverse contexts and interdisciplinary learning.
