2025 A Comprehensive Look at Safety Education in Kindergartens
1. Speaker Case Sharing The lecture on safety education was delivered by Principal 陳香娟 of 大同 Kindergarten. The focus was on kindergarten safety regulations and the professional responsibilities of early childhood educators. The sharing covered ten areas: environmental safety, food and health care, safety drills, pick-up and drop-off procedures, medication administration, transportation safety, personal safety, discipline, conflict management, and other related issues. Real-life news cases were used to illustrate key points, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety regulations. Kindergarten staff, facing the high vulnerability of young children, must be aware of their legal duty to act ("duty to act") and should actively intervene in handling children’s conflicts, identifying inappropriate discipline, and addressing dangerous situations in the environment. 2. Group Practice and Interactive Sharing During the group practice, students focused on five kindergarten safety topics—routines and interpersonal interactions, activity safety, medication safety, pick-up/drop-off safety, and traffic safety—and conducted simulated exercises on relevant regulations, implementation methods, and advocacy strategies. Through discussion and sharing, students reflected on how teachers should ensure children’s safety and apply appropriate strategies. This process not only deepened their understanding of the details of related regulations but also helped them better grasp the key methods for implementing safety education in actual kindergarten settings.
